Visit to City Hall 16 March 2016
On Wednesday 16 March 18 children, which included our School Council, visited City Hall, London. They were greeted by Arjun Mittra, Andrew Dismore's colleague. The children had been invited to City Hall by Andrew Dismore, our representative on the London Assembly. They were able to be present while the London Assembly questioned Boris Johnson about various areas of concern. The children heard questions about knife crime, cyber crime, improvements to London Transport, the Metropolitan Police and housing. The children were given a tour of City Hall that included going up to the balcony that looks over the whole of London, the view stretched for miles and included Tower Bridge, The Tower of London, The River Thames, HMS Belfast, the Shard and a penthouse with a roof garden to mention just a few things that could be seen. Mr Dismore came to talk to the children and answer some of their questions. Mr Mittra then told the children all about the work of the London Assembly. The children had their lunch in the 'Map Room', a huge room with a map of London covering the floor. The children were able to see where the our school was in relation to the rest of London. It was a great privilege! A special 'Thank You' to the parents and one big sister, who made this visit possible by accompanying the children on their visit to City Hall.
